Our History

Concerned about our common future as a people; in view of our values, principles and practices; faced with high rates of environmental degradation and poverty; like minded professionals and local communities resolved to combine efforts and reverse the trend.

We envision "An Environment with Conserved Eco-systems and Communities Living Quality Life"; with a Mission to "Conserve the Environment and its Eco-systems while improving the Quality of Life of Local Communities for Sustainable Development." Believing that "Sustainable development is not only about meeting today's needs and conserving resources for the future generation; but also about conserving one's own soul for eternity." (Inspiration texts: Matt. 16:26 & 6:33).

CECOD was founded in 1999. With over 15 years of experience, we are the leading indigenous non-governmental organization in Uganda with a community based national pyramid framework focusing on social transformation, environmental sustainability and livelihood improvement for a common future.
