In our communities around especially in urban areas, there is a big growing waste problem. People’s attitude towards waste is absurd; it has reached to a point of “to whom it may concern”. People die every year due to the mismanagement of waste and poor hygiene. If we ignore this waste problem, we will miss a key opportunity to save lives and create jobs.
In Uganda Eco-Schools waste has been turned into wealth, Queen of Peace Primary School in Kampala has recycled waste paper to make books which they sell in their school canteen to make money. The parents and the communities around have tremendously supported the cause which has successfully brought revenue to help them in other areas.
