Insisting on sorting waste to the right bins has never been more considered. At Waste Management, we should focus on sorted waste for easy recycling and disposal, it’s important to reduce, reuse and recycle starting at household level.
Collecting waste has been a very big problem in Uganda, Kampala alone generates 1000-1500 tonnes of garbage on a daily basis and KCCA collects over 350-500 tonnes leaving out over 50% uncollected.
However, for recycling to be successful and sustainable for years to come, we must all commit to recycling only the right things the right way.
Collecting waste is not the same as recycling them. It’s only when waste is recycled into something else that we realize the economic and environmental benefits. Anything short of this, and we’re simply creating a problem that results in a negative environmental impact. #if you can’t re-use it, refuse it.
