Together We Can!
Do you feel the unpredictable weather change every day? Global warming is a serious threat to every mankind. If only we admit that we are the great contributor to the increasing of temperature in our environment, we will not be aware of the cause and effect of global warming. Trees help in reducing heat in our surrounding.
They remove harmful chemicals from the soil and reduce greenhouse gases, as it absorbs carbon dioxide and give off oxygen.
Like over 350 million trees have been planted in Ethiopia within a 12-hour span, potentially breaking the world record for the most trees planted in one day. This should be an eye opener to other states, NGOs and every concerned person so as to tackle climate changes issues.
Educationists should start from the grass root, today’s children are the citizens and consumers of tomorrow. Their behaviors and decisions will inevitably affect the environment. Children are also important agents of social change in society, because apart from adopting responsible environmental behaviors themselves, they also have the potential to bring about change by influencing the environmental knowledge, attitudes and behaviors of peers, family and of the wider community.
Eco Schools in Uganda have emphasized on educating pupils in schools and communities around these schools on issues related to the climate crisis, pollution of water and land will encourage individuals and communities to change attitudes and behavior towards it. Initiatives to prevent and mitigate the impact of climate change through education may allow children, young people and adults to get a better understanding of the impact of global warming on their possibilities to enjoy their fundamental human rights.
